Colored Girls and Palettes...

Coastal scents got me loving COLOR!
I love being a make-up artist because the only color that I stress my self over is make-up pigments! I like working with all skin colors and complexions and nationalities! You can learn a lot from each face; each race...But I do love linking and connecting with other women of color in this industry ,communicating ,networking and learning more and more about the ethnic skin (I'm in) ...I love YouTube for that! Such a blessing to see my beautiful black sistahs dewing it online ...Go us !

Here is my latest addition to my beauty case:

Now this one I ordered from Ebay , but It does not look like this ....the pots are square.....So the seller musta jerked me

                                                             ( insert cuss word here)

In the future, I probably wont be buying any more beauty products from Ebay. I just can't trust my money to evil oversea merchants who will ship me some thing totally different from what you actually ordered and payed for...Must admit the palette I got instead did have nice colors and also included a few blushes too but it is not what i ordered...making do, though ...
I'll live and let go ...lesson learned ...

be a beauty inside and out
Have a great evening !

Do u remember your first time ?

My son inspired the theme of my first photo shoot. He has been picking the loveliest flowers for me each day after school. Of course I scolded him about taking roses and such from the neighbor’s house, but I do still think that his intentions were good and it was sweet of him. Any ways I wore his flowers in my hair on Wed. as part of my no quit outfit (I’ll explain on Wed.) and it really boosted my natural look. I always feel ultra pretty with a flower in my hair, who doesn’t? So the idea to incorporate flowers into the shoot was born.

Needless to say the shoot was total FUN! I loved working on Kerri’s face which is smooth and clear and easy to work with. She was patient as I applied, blended, touched, and painted colors on her. She is a natural beauty and so humble. I really see a future for her in modeling although she just laughs when I say that…oooh Kerri! Big hugs to you for helping me with this shoot!

The best part of the shoot for me was I was in my element. I know this is where I want to be right now...behind the scenes painting faces and making others look the part....I loved styling my model from head to toe...It was like dressing a doll ...
I was dressed comfortably and feeling free. I, for one, had very little make-up on, but that did not matter much to me(although next time, a little gloss, a line on the eyes and mascara wont hurt) I got lost in my work; loving each blissful moment…I can’t wait to do this again! Next Saturday meet with my next model...

Smiles   :)

Flower Power theme..

I was fortunate to work with a close friend on this one! A dream job isn’t it, to work with your homies? I just love Jeffrine’s ease behind the camera. She and I have worked together on several projects over the years and have great girlfriends and cheerleaders for one another. She worked this shoot! I am excited to see the pics and pick the perfect one for my look book.

Pink Vintage Pinup Girl Makeup- Ask Me Makeup

This is for my vintage candy-check out girl from the Zoo... She looked as lovely ....

remember be beautiful inside and out ....

video credit :Amy Benjamin of askmemakeup

killing with kindness at the zoo...

I went to the zoo with my daughter and she loved the excitement with all the kids, animals and activities. She slept for hours after her playful and exciting day with the animals and fifth graders. What was most interesting though, were not the animals but a very crabby check out girl at the merry go round candy booth. She looked so annoyed to be there and once she opened her mouth and rolled her eyes I knew she was less than happy to be amongst the hundreds of noisy elementary school kids. It did seem like every body school picked the same day to visit the zoo…Poor girl…

Now I noticed and ignored her annoyance…I am aware my daughter is watching and besides I’m usually nice unless forced to be otherwise…So I thanked her for her help and commented on how lovely her make-up was applied…She almost fell backward ! She was not expecting that. Her face lit up and her voice changed instantly…All of a sudden I was “honey” and she ran and grabbed two plastic toys for my daughter to

take home “cause her mommy is just so sweet” ( her words) …I was just being honest, despite her ugly attitude she looked like a doll with smoothie vanilla skin, just the right amount of pink on the cheeks and exaggerated eyes very Twiggy-esque. She seemed so vintage, fresh and pin-up pretty. I had to say something…I couldn’t be blind to it and I call it when I see it …She was happy and truly felt better after I complimented her…So much better that every time I had to tried to pay for something, she waved my hand away and smiled. Every time. It was a total hook-up because the zoo is expensive and prices did go up this year….so I was surprised and grateful ….but bigger than that though, she felt better and behaved better too…Nothing wrong with that!

Lesson learned: Say a nice word or two and try to be your best self even when the person in front of you is clearly displaying their worst self!

(I can’t guarantee you’ll get a hook-up, I do know that you and the offender will feel much better.)

Peace and luv….
